In this groundbreaking book The Circularity of Life: An Essential Shift for Sustainability, the author encourages and inspires readers to explore a new way of seeing themselves and the world. The book features a unique blend of scientific principles, biological research, and key environmental issues backed by both extensive research and real life examples. The Circularity of Life offers the reader a profound understanding of our co-existence on this planet. Cull showcases her deep understanding of how all living and non-living systems, including human beings, are interconnected and mutually interdependent offering insights from a variety of perspectives. Versatile and knowledgeable on critical environmental issues, Jane Cull is an ideal navigator to guide the reader through the breadth of sustainability issues we face today. Cull states, "In order for humanity to live sustainably on this planet, we must begin to see ourselves and the world differently. We are not separate or removed from the web of life and the planetary cycles that sustain us". Drawing on the work of renowned Chilean systems biologist Dr. Humberto Maturana, a pioneer in the biology of cognition, Cull uses the concept of circularity to lay the foundation for this important paradigm shift, where our living and relating becomes based on choosing social and environmental responsibility. A trail blazer in the field of sustainability, Cull calls for the design and implementation of alternative technologies that will not harm or impact the web of life, but are instead harmonious with it. She touches on important current issues such as global warming and fossil fuel alternatives, organic farming, consumer packaging, toxic waste, energy conservation, biodiversity, forestry, fishing, chemicals in the home, ethical investing, and other sustainable technologies.
