This work deals with the classification of the Itombwe forest massif: problems, process and approaches used by the actors. Eastern DR. Congo. In order to determine the problems, the process and the approaches used by the actors in the framework of the classification of the Itombwe Massif forests as well as to propose strategies aimed at minimizing the conflicts that could arise between the Itombwe Nature Reserve and the local population, we used mainly sampling and interviews, thanks to which we discovered that the main problems related to the involvement of the population in the process of classifying the Itombwe Massif forests were ICCN and its partners had engaged with little consultation of local communities in the process.
