From National Book Award-winning writer James Carroll comes a novel of timeless love reaching from mid-20th century Manhattan to medieval France; from a war-traumatized Holocaust survivor seeking sanctuary in The Cloisters and the uneasy Catholic priest who consoles her; to Héloïse and Abelard, whose legendary love story is told here as never before. The Cloister is James Carroll at his best.
