The following work aims to clarify The Co-evolution of innovation between China and the US, and how it impacts firm relationships, thus contributing to the literature on topics of strategy, coopetition, innovation and inter-organizational relationships. Using concepts of coopetition, mainly the coopetition 2020 introduced by Spescha (2018); innovation, with a focus on open innovation; and knowledge transfer and its impact on organization relationships; the study undergoes an analysis of four cases in the high-technology industry. All of them are cross-border equivalents between China and the US. The complex and unique exchanges between both countries are depicted through the definition of protected domains. Furthermore, the co-evolution of an industry in complete transformation and threatened by a tense political relationship between Chinese and American governments, has emphasized the singular nature of this paper, pioneering the assessment and categorization of cross-border relationship in cases of coopetition.
