Autorenporträt
Growing up in a sleepy rural town in Connecticut, Betty, as her late husband would describe her, was, "kept under glass." During their marriage, she would walk in his shadow, not finding her true self until his untimely death at the age of forty-four to Cancer. While raising their young children, photography became Betty's lifeline and passion. Giving her joy and confidence in herself, she developed both her photographic skills, winning numerous awards for her achievements, as well as significance to her solitary rural life. Hours spent in her basement darkroom, watching prints magically come to life in their water bath, surrounded by the smell of the chemicals and her images drying above her head became her sheltered world. It gave her a soulful purpose. Following Joe's death, Betty was left with two college tuitions to pay, the debt of two mortgages on their country home, and the trauma of losing her job only six months after his death. Betty struggled to survive the obstacles life was throwing at her. Rather than drowning as a victim of her circumstances, Betty was determined to become a survivor. Like a piece of hot steal, her trials and misfortunes were used to mold and create her new self. As she searched for the meaning of her life during many dark days, Betty became aware of the angels who were there to help her find her footing. She learned to listen to their guidance, how to grow her inner strength, and ultimately evolve into a totally different person from whom she once was. Life gave her lemons, and she's now enjoying sipping on her tall frosty glass of lemonade.
