Autorenporträt
Eleanor Lawrie was born in Toronto, Canada, and began a career in commercial art while playing flute in community orchestras. When she became professional, she played flute and piccolo with two orchestras, one in Hamilton, ON, and one in St Catharines, ON where she soon moved after several years of commuting. There she had a busy teaching studio, which expanded to include flute, piano, and recorder. In what should have her prime as a player she suffered a work-related injury which ended the performing part of her life until a dozen years later when she picked up the work she had done for years, playing for weddings with her harpist partner, and later on, her classical guitarist partner. Another related injury caused that to end, and her teaching career also was discontinued. For something of interest, and having always loved books, she turned to writing, joined a small writers group, and gradually produced the Shelby series, with the group's enthusiastic approval. People of all ages love Shelby!
