Highfill Lifetime Achievement Award Born May 26, 1943, in San Pedro, California, John Wayne Highfill, NLG, has been a collector for over 65 years, a fulltime dealer for just over forty. John first started collecting in 1949. He specializes in U.S. and Canadian silver dollars, U.S. commemoratives and gold. He is President, Founder and Director of Oklahoma Coin Exchange, Inc. North American Coin Conventions, Inc.; National Silver Dollar Conventions, Inc., American Coin Conventions, Inc., Oklahoma Federated Security and Detective Inc., Oklahoma Federated Gold & Numismatics, Inc., and Oklahoma Federated Gold & Silver Exchange. Inc.; President, Founding Member and Life Member #1, Oklahoma Coin Dealers Association; President, Highfill Press, LLC. He was an original Founding Member #1 and Life Member #1 of the National Silver Dollar Roundtable(TM), November 12, 1982, which organization elected him to the board of governors for twelve terms and five times to its presidency; he was their Man of the Year for 1985, 1992 and 2004.He was the Bourse Chairman for both the National Silver Dollar Convention(TM) and the National Gold Conventions(TM) He holds life memberships in ANA, Arkansas Numismatic Society, CA State Numismatic Association, Central States Numismatic Society, Florida United Numismatists, Garden State Numismatic Association, Greater Houston Coin Club, Indiana State Numismatic Association. He also belongs to Alabama Numismatic Society, Canadian Numismatic Society, Clearwater Coin Club, and Kansas Numismatic Association. Love Token Society, Missouri Numismatic Society, Texas Numismatic Association, and Society for U.S. Commemorative Coins, PNG. RCDA, PCGS, ANE, CCE, and ANA's 1891 Club. He has served as consultant for CompuGrade TM, the American Numismatic Exchange (ANE) and the Certified Coin Exchange (CCE). He is also a "grading consultant" for the American Numismatic Association(ANA). He is a member of many prominent organizations and societies including the Professional Numismatists Guild, Inc., National Silver Dollar Roundtable(TM), and Numismatic Literary Guild (NLG). He was also on the initial Board of Governors of the Certified Coin Exchange. For his academic achievements during his college years he was inducted into the Lambda Delta Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Fraternity. John was also a contributing consultant in later years for the Whitman Desk Top book on "Moran Dollar", by Michael "Miles" Standish. and also a contributing consultant to Q. David Bowers' twin volume set entitled: Silver Dollars & Trade Dollars of The United States in 1993. He was quoted 30 times in these books. John is the father of eight children listed individually earlier. He currently has eight Grand Children. John is a renowned author, editor, founder, statistician and publisher. He founded Highfill Press, Inc. and also Highfill Press, LLC, which has become a leading publisher in the numismatic industry today. John also contributes articles to many publications including, Numismatic News, Coin Dealer Newsletter, Red Book, Blue Book, CON, Coin World, NLG Newsletter, NSDR(TM) Journal and many other numismatic organizations. He also works closely with the ANA to promote education, along with conduction with the Summer A.N.A. Educational seminars. He is a twenty-five-year contributor to both the Red and Blue Books.
