Africans generally have a common concept of life, death, the hereafter and God. This concept influences their lives and character greatly. An understanding of their concept will enable those propagating the word of God to improve their relationship with Africans traditional religionists and vice versa and hence evangelize effectively. This work on the concept of God among the Africans ( Luhya community) attempts to construct, explain, critique and justify the African concept of God, life, death and the hereafter, in order to enhance understanding, and consequently improve relationship for the mutual benefits of both camps. To be able to present a comprehensible paper on the concept of God among the Luhya community, it is necessary that the general concept of God among the Africans be given. The reason for this is that although different tribes have away of conceiving God, there is a lot of similarities than differences among the different tribes.
