Fernando González Ochoa (1895-1964) thinker, philosopher and diplomat from"Otraparte" Envigado (Antioquia), poses the philosophy of personality that will be the subject of reflection in this work. This research aims to clarify the development of the concept of vanity in González's thought as a basic philosophical notion from which the author -in this research- makes a deconstructive approach to some socio-political values of Colombia related to personality philosophy. The thinker from Envigado coined the concept of vanity to give an account of the socio-political conditions of Colombia in the 20th century, because it points out a psychological condition of the human being, from which the philosopher develops a critical philosophy of the Colombian social evolution that constitutes a theoretical and conceptual contribution to think about the Latin American reality or policies, since it is concerned with raising criticism to the specificity of our historical and moral circumstances.
