This book which is divided into seven chapters covers a wide spectrum of the concepts of equality and land ownership. It started by giving an overview of the concept of equality linking its relevance to land ownership as well as analysing the understanding of the concept of land ownership pointing out all the diverse notions about land. It further discusses equality and land ownership under the Cameroon legal system from pre-colonial period to present. An examination of equal land ownership as a human right is done in relation to all the relevant human rights instruments and also state's obligation in guaranteeing land rights of all on equal basis. To address conflict on land ownership in the country, this book dwells on the resolution of land disputes taking into consideration all the legal and institutional frameworks set up as well as the Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms relevant for peacefully resolving land disputes in the country. This book is written purposefully to guide students, researchers, policy makers, traditional authorities and the society at large to understand the need of and the intricacies involved in enjoying equal land ownership.
