This book presents an exhaustive analysis of the Islamic urban planning of the city of Badajoz, present-day Extremadura (Spain). Specifically, the publication analyzes the current road system, the historical and ancient cartographic documentation with the aim, first of all, to reconstruct the Islamic road system of the city and, secondly, to shed some light on the problem of medieval Islamic urbanism that has been historically presented to us as chaotic and anarchic when in fact its characteristics must be deciphered through its adaptive capacities that are more organic than premeditated.
