Autorenporträt
Born to Jamaican parents, Osra and Irving Russell, Ms. Russell traveled extensively with her family. Learning how to read and to write by the age of 5, Ms. Russell attended St. Norbert School in Winnipeg, Canada. When Ms. Russell was 13 years old, her father worked for US AID in Tanzania, where she completed S1 and started S2 at The International School in Moshi. Later, Ms. Russell traveled to Kenya and graduated from high school at Rift Valley Academy (RVA) in 1982. At RVA Ms. Russell had a personal encounter with the Lord and became a Christian. Aspiring to become an artist, Ms. Russell began her art studies at Bennett College. Seeking a program that specialized in graphic design, she transferred to East Carolina University. During her undergraduate studies, Ms. Russell majored in education with a concentration in ceramics and a minor in communication arts. She completed her BFA in 1987 and her MaEd in 1990. Ms. Russell's master's thesis show was in ceramics. In 1991, Ms. Russell received a full scholarship with a stipend to study at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio, where she pursued her doctorate for three years. After working as an art educator for 15 years, Ms. Russell decided to pursue another lifelong dream and left her teaching career to start a graphic design company. Operating her business and writing, Ms. Russell spent considerable time cross-referencing Scripture; reading biblical resources for accurate interpretations of God's Word; attending Bible Study; praying and fasting. Curious about how David had a heart after God, she began her inquiry, only to find that God had a heart for David. This passion for the Bible resulted in Bible study notes, and then, her first book, The Conscience of God.
