The following book considers the water contamination by oil production in the Caspian Sea and mainly focuses on oil spill issues. This paper provides a detailed analysis of the effect of the oil spill on the environment and describes various treatment methods for oil removal which are practiced in foreign states. Based on the obtained information, the comparative analysis was performed with the purpose to propose the most applicable and effective treatment method that can potentially be implemented or further improved in Kazakhstan. Additionally, other methods of control or minimization of discharged water pollutants by oil refiners were investigated. Overall, the current treatment methods utilized by Kazakhstan can be considered relevant, however, they require particular modification of the used technology and equipment. The recovery methods including the booms, skimmers, natural sorbents are recommended for application as well as the advancement of the outdated facilities. The research method includes the comprehensive review of the appropriate bibliography along with the governmental statistical reports and regulations.
