The research was carried out in selected tertiary institutions within Mutare namely: Marymount Teachers college, Mutare Teachers College and Africa University. The aim of the study was to explore the relationship between good governance and the management of HIV and AIDS in the named institutions The research was informed by the theories and practices of good governance and how they relate to the management of HIV and AIDS. The study followed a qualitative research design, which analyzed issues in a holistic manner. Data was collected by reviewing documents and semi-structured interviews. Semi-structured interviews were used to solicit views of different people about the governance of HIV and AIDS in the selected institutions. The data was presented qualitatively in the form of descriptions and content analysis in accordance with the set objectives and research questions of the study. The research revealed different view points with regard to governance and management of HIV and AIDS programmes in the selected institutions.
