This paper presents the results of an empirical study aimed at identifying the peculiarities of coping strategies for older teenagers from single-parent families. The sample was made up of 98 students of Moscow general education school at the age from 14 to 16 years old, of whom 60 were children from single-parent families (30 boys and girls) and 38 were single-parent families (15 boys and girls 23). The study was conducted with the help of the "Strategy for overcoming stress situations (SACS)" (S. Hobfall) and "Parents are evaluated by children" (Parental assessment) questionnaires - a modification of the "Family relationship analysis" (FAM) methodology. The work identified the dominant principles of family education, which are predetermining factors in the choice of copings for older teenagers and assessed their constructiveness, including; specific copings for boys and girls raised in full and single-parent families. The results of the research will help to determine the direction of work to correct non-constructive strategies.
