The book brings the results of the research of the author entitled "Social representations of the course of Pedagogy by the students of the Pedagogy course", which investigated the Social Representations of the pedagogue's field of action elaborated and shared by the students of the Pedagogy course of the Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). The theoretical referential of this study was the Theory of Social Representations, in the light of the theories of Moscovici, Jodelet and Abric. The research revealed in these representations the senses and meanings attributed by the students to their formation in the Pedagogy course, their perspectives and professional expectations, the values attributed by the students to the professional activities exercised by the pedagogue. The results pointed to a representation of the field of action of the pedagogue in which two conceptions are articulated: one that gives a sense of amplitude to this object, with possibilities of action in diverse institutional environments; and another linked to the teaching specificity of the pedagogue and action in school environment. The analysis of the internal organization of the constituent elements of the representation allowed us to understand these contradictions.
