Four children are swept into a once-rich land that evil Cattar has turned to desert. When one is drawn to Cattar's shining city, the others must seek help to save her. They flee across the vast sands just ahead of a pursuing army of giants. Prophecies say Cattar may be defeated, but only with the sword of Amarus and the Crown of Wysdon. They haven't been seen for a thousand years. Neither has Amarus. Elves and wizards and magical creatures may help the children along the way, but it is up to them to find the Crown. And even then, what hope do three children have of defeating mighty Cattar? Yet, if they do not, the Land will remain a desert and their friend will be lost forever. This classic of Middle Grade/Young Adult fantasy fiction falls in the tradition of The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Award: First Place, Middle Grade Fiction, Florida Christian Writers Conference.
