"The Cubs' Last Game" is a children's picture book written in rhyme, for the 6-10 year-old age group. Imagine, if you will, the thrill and excitement of a complete game of Little League baseball between the fictional Cubs and Giants. Readers will be drawn into the game from the team huddle and opening pitch to the last slide at home plate. Listen and watch for the detailed sights and sounds of the game. All are described in vivid detail to fire the reader's imagination, whether the view is from the bleachers, the dugout or in the midst of the action on the field. Each crack of the bat and every chase of the ball are part of the infield and outfield ballet. The iambic beat of the rhyming couplets captures all of the fast-moving action of the game. Written in 19 four-line verses of two couplets each, the story's 714 Word Count is a bit longer than a standard children's picture book. However, the pace and tempo of the story, complimented by the exceptional illustrations by Junior's Digital Designs, push the story along for a fun read from start to finish. Anyone who has played, coached or watched Little League Baseball will easily relate to this final game of the season.
