I see The Dakota Nimrod Grows Older as a sequel to my 2017 book, A Dakota Rod and Nimrod. The title is borrowed from Robert Ruark, one of my favorite writers. His classic, The Old Man and the Boy, was followed by The Old Man's Boy Grows Older. In this sequel, I tell a few stories that I feel need to be told. I have also included some hunts by friends that I felt were particularly interesting. The title, The Dakota Nimrod Grows Older, is a reflection of my age. I'm in the "early winter" of my years. Most people my age quit hunting and fishing years ago. For reasons I don't understand, I'm as excited on today's opening day as I was when I was a twelve-year-old making my first cast in Canadian waters for a monster northern pike.
