The book is primarily centred around the theme of acceptance. Chandni, a dark-skinned girl, has consistently heard negative remarks about her skin. The narrative explores how society treats individuals with dark complexions and, more importantly, how her parents treat her based on societal expectations. On the other hand, Chhaya, Chandni's friend, has Albinism, a genetic disorder. Chhaya has embraced and loved herself just the way she is. Throughout the story, Chhaya plays a crucial role in helping Chandni break free from society's perspective and develop her own perception of herself.
