Ex-intelligence officer Courtney Pascal is a loner although others have used quite different words to describe her - words like crazy and dysfunctional. So when attorney Jonas Calver asks her to find a child everybody thought was dead, maybe it's not the best kind of therapy in the world. The Dinks kidnap murder case had already convicted one person, even without a body, but now there's a whisper the kid's still alive. From plush Manhattan apartments to the Mexican femicide capital of the world, Pascal's search for the child sees her dragged into a drug war that seems to be cover for something far worse. And as she begins to dig down beneath the surface, those implicated come looking for her. How far will she have to go to discover the truth about the Daughter Eaters, and what do you do when there's no one left to trust?
