As a genetically optimised, highly intelligent girl, it was hard for Mila to see the beauty in the monotonous universe around her that didn't seem to hold any surprises. But in a world full of imperfections, wonders and miracles, there is beauty to be found everywhere, if you only know how to recognise it."The day I stopped counting the stars" is both a reminder of how quickly technology can turn into a harmful rather than a helpful tool and of apprectiating one´s flaws.

Autorenporträt
Nathalie Grabenwarter was born and raised in Graz, Austria. She has always been fascinated by books and her mind has been filled with stories of all kind from an early age on. After graduating school, she decided to take a gap year, travelled through Europe but also found a deeper connection to her passion - biology and especially genetics. Inspired by many books about genetics and CRISPR/Cas9 she took the opportunity of the Young Storyteller Award and wrote the book "The day I stopped counting the stars" with which she entered the contest in 2023.
