GP has loved animals all his life, from his childhood on a farm in Saskatchewan to the present day. He has also worked with children and seen the joy and learning that books can bring. He hopes to help teach children compassion for animals through sharing stories and showing the joy of loving, responsible pet ownership. The Day Lulu Kitty Came To Visit is based on the real-life experience of Lulu Kitty showing up at GP's home, starving and afraid and in need of care, kindness, and a home. The sympathy and emotional connection he felt when he met her has only grown over the years. He appreciates the happiness that animals can bring to our lives and has seen first-hand the benefits of the security we can provide them.
