Robert L Stevens attended Indiana University at Fort Wayne Indiana and Mission College in San Fernando, California. He was the leader and lead singer for the popular Las Vegas show group The Checkmates Ltd who were voted by their peers, "Lounge Act of the Year many times. They were one of only two acts who appeared in the Lounge and the Main Showroom of Caesars Palace Hotel at the same time. He co-wrote the title song of the groups first charted single and album of the same name "Love Is All I have To Give' with iconic pop producer Phil Spector who produced the album He co-wrote and starred in the groups hit motion picture 'The Black Connection, Executive Produced and performed on the sound track album. He Co-Wrote and Produced the feature length motion picture "Gramma's Gold." and wrote and performed the original sound track. High Lights of their career: They were the opening act for Joan Rivers, at Kings Castle, North Shore Lake Tahoe, Don Rickles at the Copacabana in New York City and Frank Sinatra at the Oakland Alameda Coliseum in Oakland California and were chosen to perform the National Anthem at the 'Thrilla in Manila." Appeared on The Merv Griffin show, Dinah Shore Show, Ed. Sullivan Show, Sammy Davis Jr. Show, Dating Game, Johnny Carson Tonight Show and many others. Among his many business endeavors are; United Minority Enterprises, United Minority Artists, The Alternative Distribution System, Music, Film, & Internet distribution. This is his first novel.
