He was married to Emma Rutherford in 1856, and together they had three children: Emma Maria, Isabella, and Mary Ellen. Murray's parents were Andrew Murray Sr., a Scottish missionary, and Maria Susanna Stegmann, of Dutch descent. His legacy is marked by his commitment to faith and his desire to deepen the understanding of God s work in the world. After a long and impactful life, Andrew Murray passed away on January 18, 1917, at the age of 88, in Wellington, South Africa. His teachings remain influential in Christian thought and practice.
