The Demon's Trial is a psychological novel with an autobiographical touch that aims to awaken people to the reality of how we treat the world and whoever is in it. Written in the form of a diary, it tells the story of an animal welfare campaigner working for a British charity. He considers himself a scientist, somebody that acts more with his head than with his heart. However, from the moment he falls downstairs in his office and knocks his head loosing consciousness for few minutes, he has an irrational urge to write a book - although he does not know about what. He takes a break from his busy life to spend some time in complete isolation in a cottage in a Scottish island, so he can deal with his unstoppable urge and write the mysterious book once and for all. The magic of the Highlands begins to seduce him, but soon he finds himself confronted with a world of animal ghosts that put him on trial for what he has done to them and drive him close to insanity. Fighting for his innocence in the Hell he is now in, things turn out not to be what they seem.
