The Desperate Daughter: True and Tall Family Tales saga unfolds in Vr¿ac, a prosperous town within the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Buoyed by the belief that true love awaits her, Draga ingeniously keeps repulsing numerous gentlemen callers who compete for her hand in an arranged marriage. Her parents keep inviting prominent bachelors to call on her in the salon of the Todorovi¿ mansion. After years of unsuccessful matchmaking and her refusal to fulfill their expectations, the couple is furious. They threaten dreadful consequences should she dare to reject the next potential mate. The gorgeous Serbian lady would rather die as a spinster of twenty-two than become a sacrificial bride on the altar of societal conformity. Ahead of her time in 1899, she clings to the hope of marrying for love the man of her own choosing. There's no telling who will win. One thing is certain: Both parties are running out of time.

Autorenporträt
DRAGANA BUHL was separated from her mama and family in Belgrade, Yugoslavia when she was twelve. She flew alone to the United States and settled in Orchard Park, NY. Adapting to the American culture, working her way through college, raising four children as a single mom, and educating students with special needs were among the many challenges she overcame with God's help. The author resides in New York City where she delights in the arts and celebrations with her large blended family and friends. She also enjoys attending church, travelling, exploring places of antiquity, reading, writing, swimming, gardening and sewing. Freedom to worship God, read the Bible, pray, and speak freely is the most important blessing she cherishes in her adopted country.
