International concerns about OVC has been rising as the HIV/AIDS epidemic has spread. This appears to be the result of awareness of the devastating consequences of HIV/AIDS. In Ethiopia, the number of OVC has been rising sharply from time to time due to many factors. It is often said that young people are the future of a country, and it is clear that a childhood with limited opportunities will restrict the development of the individual, which has repercussions for their community and their country, which calls the need for interventions through analyzing the situation. This book, therefore, provides research based situational analysis information about situation of OVC in Ethiopia. Information was collected from OVC, their caregivers, community members/elders, CBOs, government officials; as well as members of NGOs and FBOs. The book has six chapters starting from background to its implication for interventions. The analysis should help policy makers and professionals, and should be especially useful to organizations working on child rights, or anyone else who may be concerned about children.

Gardachew Tiruneh Ejigu, BA in Psychology, Master in Social Work (MSW) at Addis Ababa University. He served the nation for more than a decade as social development worker. Currently,he is working as Monitoring & Evaluation Office in Health Poverty Action; UK based international NGO, Ethiopia Country Office, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
