The ostomy has an important impact on the patient's life, both physically and psychologically, as well as on the family and social levels. The patient is faced with a new environment and new priorities. Many moments can be difficult to manage during this experience. Support for these patients is essential given the magnitude of the psychological consequences. As such, the promotion of support for these patients involves teamwork that is essentially based on multidisciplinarity and the teaching/learning of self-care to develop the patient's autonomy prior to discharge and to promote their adaptation to their new life.
