The process of teaching/learning Latin at secondary level has reached an impasse. Among the causes of this impasse are representations of the language itself, unfamiliarity with the language of instruction, teacher recruitment and training, the curriculum and its content, the textbooks used, the methods employed by the teacher and the strategies of the learner. To overcome these problems, we propose alternative ways of teaching/learning Latin grammar, vocabulary and conjugation, using socio-constructivism as an approach.

A teaching assistant since 2002, Boniface KALOMBO CIMBAYI has been Head of Teaching at the University of Lubumbashi since 2010. He holds a Diplôme d'Etudes Approfondies from the same university, and is the co-author and author of several articles. His research focuses on the didactics of Latin at secondary level.
