Today the universities of the Democratic Republic of Congo are faced with a great problem of well-equipped libraries. That is why we have taken the initiative to propose this book to solve this problem which has remained unresolved for a long time. As channels of access to knowledge and culture, libraries occupy a crucial place in society. Their resources and services provide learning opportunities, promote literacy and education, and help shape the new ideas and perspectives that underpin creative and innovative societies. Libraries also help ensure an authentic record of the knowledge acquired and accumulated by past generations. In a world without libraries, it would be difficult to advance research and knowledge or to preserve for future generations the knowledge and heritage accumulated by humanity.
