This work examines other alternative possibilities through which the larger social secuirty problem can be dealt with.The Author uses the "Rights-Based Approach" in building his case for the protection and promotion of the Rights of the Rural elderly to accessing and achieving Socio-Economic Security.The work intends to also raise more research interest in the study of social security in Africa.

John Kitoka obtuvo su licenciatura en Administración Pública y Relaciones Internacionales en la Universidad de Dar es Salaam y una maestría en Estudios del Desarrollo en el Instituto Internacional de Estudios Sociales de La Haya, Países Bajos, con especialización en Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural.
