The Deputy Superintendent Criminal Investigation CID Odongkara of Gulu Police Head Quarter was an Acholi married to a Muganda from the South of Uganda. The father of Odongkara was uncomfortable with the marriage because the southern ladies though renowned for their beauties, are wobbly in marriages which were direct contrast with the ladies from Odongkara's tribe. This phenomenon later manifested itself in Odongkara's marriage when his wife got involved in infidelity with Mukasa from the South of Uganda. This did not go well with Odongkara. That year on the eve of the New Year two criminal cases committed by unidentified criminals all leading to death were reported to Police Head quarter in Gulu. The Director of the Government Medical Research Institute in Kitgum was murdered and a child was killed by a hit and run car along Keyo road a suburb of Gulu town .The news reached Gulu Police Head quarter when Mukasa was with the wife of Odongkara at Odongkara's house who was away on official duty. Because of the gravity of the Kitgum murder, Odongkara, a well trained CID officer who used all his senses and charm to investigate crimes, was immediately assigned to go with a team comprising of a pathologist, a figure print expert, and a photographer to solve the crime. A briefing by Mukasa was held in his office in the morning before they departed for Kitgum. Odongkara arrived late for the briefing because, he noted blood mark on the right wheels of the official car of Mukasa. He sampled the staff to be delivered to their forensic laboratory for Identification.
