In this sequel to "The Osiris String", Sam Buckner, a biogenetic researcher at the University of Toronto, and Melinda Gordon, now Under Secretary of Intelligence and Analysis at Homeland Security are drawn into the quagmire of American politics. Sam's research into the effects of stellar movements on the story of evolution, and the formula he develops, set the stage for a struggle between the "right" and the "left" of the political and religious spectrum. Sam is surprised that his quest for evidence of whom we are as a species, in particular his suggestion that we are not the "rational" creatures we think we are, but rather one that is led and dominated by "symbolism", spurs global controversy. One American veteran takes particular offence to the new theory and sets out on a mission to try to stifle the movement in the US, by eliminating the academics who take up the cause, Sam being the number one target. He soon decides that he can change the course of history, by also targeting the President of the United States, who he believes supports the results of the research and therefore embodies the spirit of the devil himself.
Autorenporträt
I was born and raised in Welland, Ontario and began my post-secondary education at the University of Ottawa, and then, in order to be closer to my future wife, I moved to the University of Toronto. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in History and while teaching full time, completed my Honour's degree in History, earned a Bachelor's degree in Education and a Master's degree in school administration. During thirty-two years I spent in education, I taught History and Geography, which is reflected in my novels. Most of the places in my first two novels are places I've been to. What my characters see and feel, is what I have seen and felt, and so, I developed my characters accordingly. The science I use as the basis of the novels is what I call plausible science, and though somewhat fanciful, it is really based on current and sound theory. The science evolves through the three novels, creating a series of circumstances and events through which my characters act and react. My wonderful wife of forty-seven years, Shirley and I have two children, Mark and Adrienne, and still live in Welland.
