Ricky Gazelle is a children's author, therapist, and animal welfare activist, and has been doing animal rescue for many years, including for a myriad of reptiles, cottontail rabbits, various puppies, and a clowder of cats and kittens. The most interesting rescue was a pair of fledgling kestrels, who were rehabilitated, and able to be released into their native habitat with extensive support from a nearby falcon rescue group.
