Autorenporträt
David Hansford has a degree in chemistry from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. David's art studies began at the Instituto Allende in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, and finished at Georgia State University in Atlanta under the tutelage of his art sensei, James Sitton. David has studied Okinawan Karate for many years and authored two books on the science behind Traditional Martial Arts - P.A.T.H. Approach to Effective Self Defense and Part 2, Kiko. His spiritual animal, assigned by his sensei based on the interactions of his body, mind and spirit in training, is the Dragon. David's philosophy of life and painting is informed by these influences. He believes the sacredness and revelations about the universe can be found in the small and insignificant in nature. David advocates for a contemporary art world where artists in all mediums return to the primordial purpose of art, which is to make the magic that connects the seen with the unseen, to fathom the dual nature of reality and to understand the shifting balance of the physical world with forces that affect it. From this exploration comes an understanding of the harmony in the universe, and out of which beauty flows. David lives on a barrier island in northeast Florida with his wife, Laura. His two sons, Wolff and Adam, born and raised with salt in their hair, still make the beach their home. David hopes always to walk the surf.
