Searching for food, Quack Little wandered off and got lost from his family. Not able to make a sound, he could not let them know where he was. Not noticing that Quack Little was different, the chickens accepted him for who he was. This unusual and ugly duckling adapted to the chicken family's life and becomes a part of the family. This story tells of the frustration that Quack Little goes through, but he endures and adjusts to his new family.

Autorenporträt
Betty Jean Lathan taught in the public school system for thirty-fi ve years and retired as a department chair of the English and foreign language department at Midland Freshman. She started teaching at one of the local Midland Charter Schools for the last four years. Currently she is teaching part time at Midland Academy Charter School as a speech communication teacher. She was born in Marlin, Texas and started her early education there until her family moved to the West Texas area where her father served as a United Methodist pastor. She is a graduate of West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in secondary English and Speech in 1972. She received her Master of Education from Sul Ross State University in Al Pine, Texas in 1997. She is the daughter of the late Rev. Wilbart Bledsoe and Mrs. Daphinie Bledsoe. She was married to the late Rev. Robert Earl Lathan for thirty-three years. She has one son, Robert Antoine Lathan and two grandsons, Raylan Azeem and Braylon Uriah Lathan. Mrs. Lathan believes that students must follow their dreams and never stop believing in themselves. Mrs. Lathan is the author of four children books: Sierra, Th e Unwanted Cat; Th e Failed Plans of Matilda and the Nurse Th at Caused Unhappiness; Are You Sure Th at's My Child? and Th e Duck Th at Would Not Quack.
