If Nelson Mandela was the reconciliation president, Thabo Mbeki set himself the task of becoming the transformation president. He is the 2012 recipient of the African Literature Association¿s Lifetime Achievement Price, The Fonlon-Nicholls Award, for excellence in creative writing, scholarship and human rights advocacy.
