Through this book, the author attempts to provide a detailed understanding of various factors that influence the economics of exploring for and developing petroleum resources in India from the investor s point of view. This book contains a detailed review of the geography, climate, business environment, infrastructure and the energy market in India. The current New Exploration Licensing Policy ( NELP ) fiscal regime is discussed in detail. An analysis of the fiscal regime is carried out to illustrate the effects of Government Take on fields that are rendered to be marginal. Also included are analyses of the performances of existing or planned field developments on the eastern and western coasts of India and analysis carried out to demonstrate the profitability of exploration of oil and gas discoveries in representative areas in offshore regions of the country. The author does not incorporate analyses of onshore field developments because of the lack of sufficient data. This book is an attempt to help international oil and gas companies and analysts to calculate the effectiveness of their investment in the Indian Oil and Gas Petroleum Sector.

Autor

The author is a Masters (By Research) in Petroleum Engineering from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. He is presently working as Sr. Manager - (Operations) at a Down- hole Drilling Tools Manufacturing Organization, involved with the design and development of various tools that are developed by his organization.
