This work is compiled by Professor Xu Kuangdi as the editor-in-chief and six vice editors-in-chief, heading nearly 800 contributors in 45 authoring groups from institutes of mining and metallurgy. Editor-in-chief, Professor Xu Kuangdi, is a metallurgist who ranks as one of the pioneers in jet metallurgy technology in China. He is also Professor and supervisor of doctoral postgraduates at Shanghai University. He was elected member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1995. He served as Mayor of Shanghai from 1995 to 2001. Prof. Xu has long been engaged in the research of green iron-and-steel manufacturing and development strategy, and was among the first group of Outstanding Experts Recognized by the State Council of China. He has published over 120 academic papers and 7 books. He once served as the president of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.   Vice editors-in-chief: Professor Gu Desheng was an expert in mining engineering. He was the professor at Central South University. He had long been engaged in teaching and scientific research of mining equipment and process. He was elected member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1995.   Professor Huang Boyun is an expert in materials and powder metallurgy. Once the president of Central South University, Prof. Huang has long been engaged in the research of advanced composite materials, high-temperature structural materials, powder metallurgy materials, etc. He was elected member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1999.   Professor Sun Chuanyao is an expert in mineral processing engineering. Once the director of at Beijing General Research Institute of Mining and Metallurgy, he has long been engaged in mineral processing and comprehensive utilization of complex polymetallic mineral resources. He was elected member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2003.   Professor Wang Guodong is an expert in steel rolling and metallic material. Professor at Northeastern University, he has long been committed to the research into the theories, processes, equipment, and products of steel rolling. He was elected member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2005.   Professor Weng Yuqing is an expert in steel and iron materials. Once the vice minister of Metallurgy Industry and the director of Central Iron & Steel Research Institute, he has been engaged in iron and steel structural materials research for more than 40 years. He was elected member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 2009.   Professor Yin Ruiyu is a metallurgist who pioneering in philosophy of engineering. He once served as the vice minister of Metallurgy Industry and the director of Central Iron & Steel Research Institute. He has long been committed to and in charge of research into metallurgical technology and development strategy. He was elected member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering in 1994.
