This study aimed at examining the communication systems, and the relationship between effective communication and employees' performance in a Waste Management Company with services across the globe. It further sought to identify the barriers to effective communication and finally ascertain the communication channels valued by employees. The study revealed that effective communication significantly impacts employees' performance positively by improving their knowledge, helping to plan and complete their work schedule effectively and efficiently. Further revelation was the difference in perception and viewpoint on certain issues by employees. Major barriers to effective communication in the Company included lack of attention and interest, information overload, lack of trust, delay in feedback, status difference and individual bias. The study recommended the promotion of communication effectiveness ensuring transparency, openness and informational availability to further increase employees' performance, productivity, and growth of the organization.
