The present book aimed at investigating the effect of memory and compensation strategies instruction on Iranian EFL intermediate students' reading comprehension.The present study complements others by following 53 institute learners and it provides another avenue for examining the language learning situation in Iran.To measure learners' reading comprehension ability before and after the intervention, the reading part of TOEFL test was administered to them as the pre-and post-test of the study. Analysis of the results of the study revealed that participants of experimental group who received explicit strategy instruction gained better awareness and use of their strategies while reading which led to an increased L2 reading comprehension compared to the control group. In actual fact, they outperformed the control group.
