Poverty is a pronounced deprivation in well-being. To be poor is to be hunger, to lack shelter and clothing, to be sick and not cared for, to be illiterate and not schooled, to be vulnerable to sick and minor adverse events, and to be voiceless and powerless. Poverty and poverty alleviation issues targeting the poor are very important in policy formulation for developing countries like Ethiopia where majority of the population lives below the poverty line. Microfinance institutions (MFIs) are considered as powerful and effective instruments in empowering livelihoods of the poor both socially and economically. Therefore, this book tried to assess the effects of MF services on poverty among the beneficiaries. Delivery of financial services has made positive changes on income, health and on other economic status of the poor.
