Language issues are an important aspect of a culture and it is our duty to see that languages are maintained and that their survival is not threatened by other languages as is the case of Africa. This is an academic work which illustrates the effects of the use of English as a medium of instruction. This work in a way looks at the issue of language imperialism as it shows that there seem to be a preference of English as a medium of instruction in African schools at the expense of African languages. This is causing other language's survival to be threatened while others are already dying. From this work, it is evident that Africa still has a lot of work to do, that is, in the the revision of language policies and their implementation.
Autorenporträt
The author was born on November 26, 1986. She was educated in Zimbabwe and studied for her BA Joint Honours in English and Geography at the Catholic University in Zimbabwe from 2005-2008, and she did her MA in English Language and Linguistics at the University of Essex, UK from 2015-2016. She works as a Junior Lecturer at ISPM in Mozambique.
