This is a literary study of Ekiti folksongs, a type of oral literature produced in Ekiti community of South-West Nigeria. The study examines the interrelationship between cosmology, folksongs and the Ekiti community. It provides a broad and critical study of the content and form of some of the folksongs. It also defines the composition and performance techniques of the folksingers and finally examines the language and style adopted in some of the folksongs.Despite the fact that some social changes are observed in the practice of Ekiti folksongs, the study concludes that this Yoruba verbal art has a very bright future.
