A core text designed specifically for the college market, The Empowered Writer gives students a detailed yet widely applicable and accessible guide for developing skills in writing and research, including personal and business communication. The new edition of Kathleen M. Moran and Eric Henderson's text covering rhetoric, research, and grammar with integrated readings now boasts a more logical sequence of topics; streamlined coverage in early chapters; practical guidance on giving oral presentations; expanded material on business and workplace writing; as well as twice as many professional readings to highlight essay techniques and styles. The text continues to provide extensive pedagogical support with individual and collaborative exercises scattered throughout the text; plentiful in-text examples to illustrate key ideas; new critical-thinking questions following readings; and extensive margin annotations to define core concepts and provide targeted learning support. The text also retains its key focus on teaching students to think critically as they read and write, preparing them for communicating in the classroom and beyond.
