Although much has been developed in the field of naval architecture, the language proper of this professional community has been but rather superficially investigated and even less analysed by linguist researchers or practitioners, be they lexicologists and lexicographers, terminologists or terminographers. This book will expand the perspective on the most salient lexical peculiarities that were identified within the scope of this highly complex professional language. This is the first volume of our monograph and by and large it will consider the existing literature on the English language of naval architecture with a view to introducing our new findings, discoveries and language-based analytical commentaries. The second of our monograph will present the English and Romanian languages of naval architecture as they reveal their features in translated works. This monograph is a complementation to all of the preceding approaches to the study of the English language of naval architecture, this extremely demanding field of human creativity and dedication.
