You cannot remain neutral in the battle for your soul. The Eucharist Effect is a spiritual thriller that follows a lapsed Catholic family haunted by their history and an evil spirit who is mentored by the demon, Acedia, or spiritual sloth. While his parents' marriage fails, Jake struggles with typical teenage stress and temptation as he seeks acceptance at his new high school. As strange occurrences in their new home drive his family further and further apart, Jake discovers there is much more going on than meets the eye both at home and at school. Jake learns the faith his family has forgotten is their only chance to counter the evil that has seeped into their lives. Suddenly, the once-quaint sacraments he took for granted come alive with meaning as Jake realizes they are the key to his, his family's, and society's salvation.

Brian Willshire taught 8th grade English at Thornapple-Kellogg Middle School for twelve years and finished by serving as one of its counselors for sixteen years. God blessed him with this work which inspired this book in many ways. He has also written Chocolate Chores and More (Illustrated by Don Williamson), Folklore, and Hauntings: Evil Confronted (The alternate plot to Eucharist Effect where the family chooses to love and forgive their way through their problems.) When not spending time with family and friends, he likes to attend Mass and Adoration, read, pray, hike, kayak, travel, and scuba dive (when he gets the infrequent chance).
