Autorenporträt
Gerry Burke's writing credentials were formulated during his time as an advertising copywriter with a number of international agencies. His output was prolific, especially in the category of humour, and it is no coincidence his books are amusing and imaginative. The author's career in advertising took him to Britain, USA, Hong Kong, Singapore and a number of Australian cities, and he has previously called on his memories to provide locations for his stories. The Europeans is Gerry's 11th published volume and he returns to his home base of Victoria for the setting of this novel. Admittedly, a number of the characters border-hop into South Australia, but he has also done that and remembers the experience with affection. For the enthusiastic owner and breeder that he is, few of Gerry's stories have centred on the Sport of Kings; but the thoroughbreds supply peripheral action in this page-turner, as do the wild brumbies of the high country and the eventing horses of the star-crossed lovers. The author is a renowned animal lover and shares digs with two stuffed cats, a family of doves and some nocturnal possums. Gerry is single and lives in Melbourne, Australia
