Nowadays humanity is in need of some measures which will halt the ongoing mass atrocities around the world. In 2005 the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted Resposnibility to Protect doctrine, which aimed at preventing and stopping Genocides, war crimes, crimes against humanity and ethnic cleansing. Starting from 2006 this doctrine was also incorporated in the resolutions of the UN Security Council, which bears the prime responsibility for the maintenance of global peace and security. Taking into consideration the utmost importance of this UN organ, the research aimed to examine the evalution of Responsibility to Protect doctrine through the UN Security Council, as well as to what extent the implementation of this doctrine was successful in four selected cases (Sudan, Kenya, Libya and Syria). This is an initial research, which aims to have a continuation in the future.
